CP40 FIRMWARE, REPAIR AND SUPPORT
NOTICE #: 15-001
ISSUE DATE: Dec. 2, 2015
EFFECTIVE DATE: Feb. 1, 2016
INTRODUCTION
The CP40 was launched in 1998 and was manufactured until May of 2012. At that time it was replaced by the H1000 which is functionally compatible with the CP40. The CP40 was discontinued in Nov. 2012 due to the obsolescence of several critical components.
CP40 FIRMWARE UPGRADE
One of obsolete CP40 components is the memory chip which stores the firmware.
This has an impact on customers who wish to upgrade their Maestro software to Hurricane software. In order to use a CP40 with Hurricane software, the firmware chip must be version 1.17 (for use with standard Wiegand readers) or version 1.14 (for use with Cansec’s Advanced Keypad - AKP100). This requires replacing the existing firmware chip with a new one. In addition, older CANLANs must be replaced with the latest CANLAN2.
This memory chip has not been in production for many years and is no longer available. As of Dec. 1, 2015 we have only 100 in stock.
CP40 REPAIR
Effective Feb 1, 2016, CP40 controllers will no longer be repaired due to availability of spare parts. Should one fail, it will need to be replaced with a H1000.
SUPPORT OF SYSTEMS WITH CP40 CONTROLLERS
Effective Feb. 1, 2016, support for Hurricane software with CP40 controllers will be limited to software issues only. Any issues related to CP40 controllers will not be addressed. The controllers in question must be replaced with H1000 controllers.
NOTE: Maestro software was discontinued in Jan. 2011 and support is no longer available.
